3 day journey from Marrakech to Sahara desert
Day 1: The Majestic Atlas Mountains and Ait Benhaddou – Journey to Skoura
• Morning Departure from Marrakech: Begin your adventure with an early departure from the vibrant city of Marrakech, as we head towards the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains. Along the route, admire the dramatic landscapes, and make a stop at the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, off ering panoramic views over the surrounding peaks.
• Ait Benhaddou: Our fi rst major stop is at the iconic Ait Benhaddou, a fortifi ed mudbrick village that has earned UNESCO World Heritage status. Wander through its narrow alleys, exploring ancient kasbahs and learning about its history as a key trading post and fi lm location.
• Skoura Oasis: Continue through the beautiful Draa Valley and arrive at Skoura, a tranquil oasis known for its palm groves and centuries-old kasbahs. Spend the night in a charming local guesthouse, nestled in the heart of this picturesque area.
Day 2: Rose Valley, Dades Valley, Todra Gorge – Into the Sahara
• Kalaat M’Gouna (Rose Valley): After breakfast, we set off towards the famous Rose Valley, known for its fragrant rose petals used to create rosewater and cosmetics. Take a stroll through the lush valley and immerse yourself in the beauty of the blooming roses (season permitting).
• Boumalne Dades & Dades Valley: Continuing our journey, we enter the Dades Valley, also known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” The stunning rock formations and scenic landscapes make for an unforgettable experience. Pause to take in the views at some of the most remarkable points along the valley.
• Todra Gorge: Next, we visit the impressive Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliff s reach up to 300 meters in height. A perfect place to stretch your legs and walk through the narrow canyon.
• Merzouga – Sahara Desert: In the late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, a small village on the edge of the Sahara. You’ll have time to relax before embarking on a camel ride across the vast sand dunes, just in time for an unforgettable desert sunset. Afterward, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a luxurious desert camp under the starlit sky.
Day 3: Sunrise Over the Dunes – Return to Marrakech
• Sahara Sunrise: Rise early to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over the vast Sahara Desert. As the sun begins to illuminate the sand dunes in hues of gold and orange, you’ll experience a moment of pure magic.
• Camel Ride & Breakfast: After the sunrise, embark on a camel ride back to the village of Merzouga, where a hearty breakfast awaits.
• Return to Marrakech: Begin your return journey to Marrakech, passing through the scenic landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll take several breaks to stretch and enjoy the views, stopping for lunch at a picturesque spot.
• Arrival in Marrakech: You’ll return to Marrakech in the evening, concluding your unforgettable 3-day journey through Morocco’s mountains, valleys, and deserts.
